9- What is a pI? What is an ampholyte? What happens at the pI in isoelectric focusing?
pI is isoelectric point
Amino acids are ampholytes; i.e., they contain both acidic and basic groups.
Proteins will stop migrating once they reach their pI in a pH gradient gel.
