Examination: There is indurated erythematous plaque at right side of the nose. Slit skin smear is taken and sent to the lab.

Cellular smear (Giemsa stain) reveals superficial squamous epithelial cells & high number of histiocytes. There are high number of intracellular & extracellular organisms consistent with leishmania amastigote.
