Released on 13-10-20197 days old female baby
History of normal delivery at home. No history of trauma.
The patient father brought her yesterday complaining of right lid swelling and discharge.
On examination: right eye severe conjunctivitis with lid swelling and conjunctival echymosis covering part of the cornea with copious yellow discharge.
Conjunctival swab was sent to the lab for gram stain and culture.
Acute right conjunctivitis neonatorum
Intra-cellular gram negative diplococci
Culture and Identification confirmed conjunctivitis neonatorum by neisseria gonorrhea species
