74 year old female.
Clinical Data
Patient complain of : Dry irritative cough for 40 days.
History of DM, Hypertension. Patient underwent hystrectomy 25 year ago (Patient doesn't know the cause)
Patient is vitally stable , conscious, oriented.
Chest examination show decrease air entry on right side.
C.T. chest shows highly suspicious multiple lung lesions (?? tumor). Right side pleural effusion.
Related Laboratory Results
Pleural Fluid Examination:
- Red color.
- RBC 43 X 103 /uL .
- Total Cell Count 4 X 103 /uL (10% polymorphnuclear leukocytes, 78% Mononuclear cells, 12% non hematological cells) .
Normal CBC , INR , APTT , Renal Functions and liver functions.

Comment / Findings
Non Hematological cells are seen with high suspicion of metastatic carcinoma. Cytopathological examination is recommended.
Additional Note
Pleural effusion sample was sent for cytopathological examination.
The report concluded: "Metastatic adenocarcinoma with background of acute inflammation process. Tissue Examination of Biopsy Specimen is recommended to confirm."
