5 year old female pateint

Clinical Data

Pallor and easy fatigability.

Splenomegally.

Enlarged Lymph nodes (Inguinal and Axillary)

Related Laboratory Results

CBC: Severe thrombocytopnea , moderate Anemia, leukocytosis (?blast cells) "as mentioned in referral form"

Patient was referred to our facility for Bone marrow aspirate and immunophenotyping (See Below)

Provisional Diagnosis

Acute Leukemia

Comment / Findings

  • Bone marrow aspirate :

Hypercellular Bone marrow Infilterated by 90% blast cells.

Blast cells are variable in size. Both small and large size blasts are seen. Small blasts have scant cytoplasm, condensed nuclear chromatin, and indistinct nucleoli. Large cells have moderate amounts of light-blue to bluish-grey cytoplasm, dispersed nuclear chromatin, and multiple variably prominent nucleoli. The nuclei are round.

  • Immunophenotyping for bone marrow sample:

The blast cells constitutes: 94.2% using FSC/SSC gating strategy. Blast cells expresses an immunophenotype of Precursor B-ALL/LBL.
